MacMillan Supply Chain Group Inc. is looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to support our growing transportation operations across Canada and the United States.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in freight brokerage, carrier management, transportation pricing, and customer service. The successful candidate will coordinate shipments, secure carrier capacity, manage customer accounts, and ensure cost-effective, on-time transportation solutions for domestic, cross-border, and U.S. freight.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Operations
- Coordinate FTL, LTL, and expedited shipments across Canadian domestic, U.S. domestic, and Canada-U.S. cross-border lanes.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery, resolving service issues proactively.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and company service standards.
Pricing & Carrier Management
- Prepare competitive freight quotations and conduct pricing analysis based on market trends and lane profitability.
- Source, negotiate, and secure transportation capacity with qualified carriers.
- Build and maintain strong carrier relationships to ensure reliable service and competitive rates.
- Vet new carriers by reviewing insurance, safety records, operating authorities, and compliance documentation.
- Continuously expand and strengthen the carrier network across North America.
Customer & Account Management
- Manage assigned house accounts and serve as the primary point of contact for transportation requests.
- Build long-term customer relationships through responsive communication and exceptional service.
- Identify opportunities to improve service levels and support business growth.
Financial & Administrative Support
- Review carrier invoices for accuracy and assist with carrier/vendor payment processes.
- Support company DSO objectives by coordinating timely invoicing and payment follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate shipment records, documentation, and transportation files.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian domestic transportation, U.S. domestic freight, and Canada-U.S. cross-border shipping.
- Experience with freight pricing, carrier procurement, and transportation cost analysis.
- Proven ability to negotiate rates and manage carrier relationships.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Transportation Management Systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network of Canadian and U.S. transportation carriers.
- Knowledge of customs procedures and cross-border documentation.
- Experience supporting freight brokerage or third-party logistics operations.
