About the Role

WMS is a multi-tenant SaaS warehouse management platform that runs real warehouse operations — inbound ASN/receiving, inventory and putaway, picking, packing, shipping, returns, RF scanner workflows, labels and reports, and AI-assisted operations.

Our customers depend on the platform 24/7, so quality is non-negotiable. As a Junior QA / Manual Tester, you will be the human safety net between development and live warehouse customers.

Every feature, bug fix, and configuration change will pass through your hands before it reaches production. You will execute structured test cases, log clear bug reports, verify fixes on our test environment, and help maintain our test documentation library.

This is an entry-level role, and we will train you on the WMS domain. However, you must already be comfortable with manual testing fundamentals, Jira, documentation, basic SQL, terminal usage, and browser DevTools.

What You’ll Do

Manual Testing & Test Execution

  • Execute manual test cases from our test pack covering ASN, receiving, inventory, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, orders, returns, items, locations, RF, labels and reports, admin, workflow designer, and KPI/analytics.
  • Perform exploratory testing on new features to find edge cases that written test cases may miss.
  • Test across desktop web and RF scanner UI using a handheld Android device or PWA emulation.
  • Participate in release gating by smoke-testing deployments before production sign-off.

Test Reports & Documentation

  • Log every test run using our standardized template, including app SHA, environment, steps, expected vs. actual results, created record IDs, and final verdict.
  • Help keep the user guide accurate by flagging screens where documentation no longer matches the UI.
  • Capture and organize screenshots based on the screenshots checklist.
  • Read existing documentation to understand expected behavior before testing.

Bug Reporting & Fix Verification

  • Create clear, reproducible bug tickets in Jira with title, environment, SHA, preconditions, reproduction steps, expected result, actual result, screenshots or recordings, severity, and priority.
  • Verify fixes after developers close tickets by re-running the failing scenario and nearby regression areas.
  • Update, transition, link, and organize Jira tickets according to the team workflow.

Technical Validation

  • Run light SQL queries against the test database to verify data integrity after warehouse workflows.
  • Use browser DevTools to inspect Console and Network issues, copy failing requests as cURL, and read 4xx/5xx response bodies.
  • Use basic Node.js and terminal commands to clone a repo, install dependencies, read package scripts, start a dev server, and check logs when given instructions.

Must-Have Day-One Skills

Manual Testing Fundamentals

  • Understanding of test cases, test plans, regression testing, smoke testing, exploratory testing, severity, and priority.
  • Ability to write bug reports that a developer can reproduce on the first read.
  • Strong attention to detail and patience to test every field, flow, and error message carefully.

Jira

  • Comfortable creating, updating, transitioning, and linking tickets.
  • Familiar with workflows, components, labels, sprints, and basic JQL searches.

Documentation

  • Ability to write clean Markdown test-run reports and follow templates strictly.
  • Comfortable reading existing documentation before testing a feature or workflow.

SQL — Basic to Intermediate PostgreSQL

  • Comfortable writing SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, ORDER BY, GROUP BY, COUNT(), and simple aggregate queries.
  • Ability to read an existing query, change a filter, and re-run it.
  • Comfortable working with longer queries that include multiple joins.

Node.js & Terminal Basics

  • Understand what npm install and npm run scripts do.
  • Can clone a repo, install dependencies, read package.json, and start a dev server with clear instructions.
  • Can read a stack trace and identify the file and line it points to.
  • Comfortable using terminal commands such as ls, cd, cat, tail -f, git status, git pull, and git log.

General Skills

  • Comfortable using Browser DevTools, especially Network and Console tabs.
  • Comfortable working on macOS, Windows, or Linux.
  • Strong written English for clear bug reports and test documentation.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to warehouse, logistics, 3PL, inventory, or supply-chain software.
  • Familiarity with RF scanner or handheld terminal workflows.
  • Experience using Postman or Insomnia for testing REST APIs.
  • Basic Git knowledge, including branches, pulls, and reading diffs.
  • Experience using screen-recording tools such as Loom, ShareX, or OBS.
  • Awareness of automation frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification.
